Editorial Review

Stars have been described as Canada's 'most sophisticated pop outfit' by some pretentious media types. We prefer to think of them as the soundtrack to some imaginary 1980's movie. You know the kind; a comedy/romance/drama where the lead character wears leggings, finds love, loses it, and then ultimately dances off into the sunset. Something like that.

The Toronto band first formed at the start of this decade and released a number of EPs before getting some attention for Ageless Beauty and the accompanying album, Set Yourself On Fire. It probably didn't hurt their cause that a couple of their members are also part of the Broken Social Scene collective and that vocalist, Torquil Campbell, is an actor with rolls on Sex And The City and Law & Order.

Anyway, the band released the Sad Robots EP earlier this year. It's seen them support Coldplay in Canada and take to the road for an international showcase. As the band explain on their Myspace: "We're getting ready to pack up our lives and get in the van one more time to come to your city (hopefully) and entertain you (hopefully). Please come and see us. We'll sing some songs you know and a few you prolly don't".
