Earlier this year, Leonard Cohen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Lou Reed. Frankly, it was a long overdue accolade. Cohen is one of the most influential singer/songwriters of the past century and his work has been covered by the who's who of the music industry. As Nick Cave once put it: "Leonard Cohen was the first artist I discovered by myself. He is the symbol of my musical independence. The sadness of Cohen was inspiring; it gave me a lot of energy. I always remember all this when someone says that my records are morbid or depressing".

Something else that's long overdue is an Australian tour by Cohen. It's been decades since he last visited these shores, and his legacy has only grown in the intervening years. He may be 74-years old, but the shows have been getting rave reviews overseas.

Joining Cohen on tour is eight-time ARIA Award winner, Paul Kelly. Kelly is releasing the second volume in his Songs From The South collection, and is performing the material live on the road in support. Basically, this is one of those once-in-a-lifetime double bills. Miss this tour and there probably isn't going to be another one.
